Among the invitees to tryouts was our own 2018 Amira Collins of Paul VI, HS (Fairfax,VA). The 123 applicant athletes joined 39 previously announced invited athletes who accepted invitations to attend trials from the USA Basketball Women’s Developmental National Team Committee held in Colorado Springs.

Overall, the 162 players include 52 athletes who will graduate high school in 2015, 77 players set to graduate in 2016, 24 from the high school class of 2017, seven players from the class of 2018 and one player apiece from the class of 2019 and 2020 which is a testament to the young talent Collins has quickly made upon the WCAC and nationally.

Collins who is emerging into one of the nations most prominent rising prospects is known for her Power-post with emerging back-to-basket game; physical on glass, rebounds and outlets; mobile in uptempo game; beginning to find a faceup game; development of interior game will yield results at next level.

"Collins is maturing her game into a versatile "do it all" post and we are excited as a program that she was awarded the opportunity to display her talent on a national platform" - Keith Stevens (CEO. Team Takeover)

Collins who is a 2018 graduate, survived 2 rounds of cuts during USA team trials, competing until the final day of USA practice; holding her own amongst players 2 and 3 years her elder and the top tier of women's athletes in the country. Collins has already received an invite to next years trials where she is looking to make her mark early and land a spot to represent her country at the 16U level.

The U16 roster has been pared down to 12 players, who will represent Team USA at the 2014 USA Women's U16 World Championship in the Czech Republic June 28-July 6.
